Fall is when the United Way Toronto & York Region Campaign kick starts and this year is no exception. A small delegation of 7 Jericho staff and interns were lucky to go to the launch at RBC WaterPark Place in Toronto on September 13. We got picked up by a coach bus at the 404 and Davis Drive park n’ drive in Newmarket and delivered safely at the event an hour later.Like the cool t-shirts we had made? It sure made us stand out and promote our town of Georgina!
Besides having some delicious food, getting inspired and doing some mingling and networking we also got to work on ideas for how to raise some funds for this awesome organization that we are part of as a partner agency for 20+ years.
First out will be our pre-teen dance at the Georgina Ice Palace Hall Friday September 30 from 7-10 pm. It is for ages 9-13 and tickets can be purchased at Global Pets and Uptown Decor and Gifts in Keswick or at the Jericho office in Jackson’s Point beside De La Salle Park. There may be some tickets left at the door if you are lucky but it is better to pre-buy for $10.
The following week we are partnering with Hopice Georgina and Georgina Food Pantry to run an Escape Room! We tried this at the Georgina Gym at the Youth-a-Palooza event in June and it was a great success. This is for older “kids”. We will also have a bakesale at the event.
Lastly we have our Haunted House at the Jericho/Gem Theatre on Saturday October 22 at 9:30 am. Cost is $2 per person and besides the haunted house and a cool craft, the movie Monster House will be shown at 11 am. There will also be a photo booth in the lobby where you can have your photo taken for $10.
We hope you can come out and support our efforts this year!
